An Early Morning Wander

Through the latter half of the year I’d got a number of days in which I needed to grab a cache to colour in a day on the matrix. To address this issue I’d kept back a number of holidays so I could take time off. Well, to be honest, we hadn’t been on a large family holiday, so I had loads of days left. I spent the morning in Hockeridge Woods, which contained a convenient-looking patch of 20 caches in a confined area.

I therefore had a series of half-days off to go geocaching. One was a full day, but most were half days. I remember this was a morning trip, in which I got up and left early. Still dark kind of early, but not early enough to avoid all the traffic.

I parked in some random roadside location on the edge of the woods and headed in.

The woods were quite good as an experience, and I managed to grab a couple of extras before coming back home at lunchtime. I learned a couple of lessons about what to carry in my caching bag on this trip. Drinks and snacks, for a start. Despite being cold and damp it was quite tiring and I needed a drink, but hadn’t taken one.

I learned a couple more lessons about how to geocache under trees too. The phone signal was a bit variable and the whole job was a bit slow.
